Yamla Pagla Deewana first Day collection at Box Office

Director: Sangeeth Sivan Cast: Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby  Deol
The one person from the entire team of Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 who deserves applause is the person who cut the trailer. His might have been the most difficult job of hunting for the better (rather the only) gags in this otherwise bland film and putting them all in the promo. Forget the comparatively much entertaining prequel, the sequel doesn't even live up to its promo.

The problem is that the sequel seems to be made over a lazy London holiday with no one trying really hard to amuse the audience and alas none of them happen to be natural charmers. Early in the first half, the film presets its intellect by introducing a monkeythat claims to have more IQ than humans. Nevertheless, while talking about mindless comedies, the issue is not as much with the surplus of mindlessness as with the scarcity of comedy.

Paramveer (Sunny Deol) is under the impression that is father Dharam (Dharmendra) and brother Gajodhar (Bobby Deol) have reformed. Butthe father-don duo are back at being conmen and this time pose as millionaires, just so that Gajodhar can marry Suman (Neha Sharma), daughter of a UK businessman (Annu Kapoor). When Paramveer learns this, he tries to unleash their mean motives.

While the Deols created a good brand with Yamla Pagla Deewana, they are unable to revive the same magic in the sequel. The basic premise remains the same of the elder brother trying to get his younger brother and father on the right track. Also almost every supporting actor from the first part from Anupam KherJohnny Lever and Sucheta Khanna is repeated in the sequel but with characters which are not half as funny. Somewhere director Sangeeth Sivan is unable to catch the pulse, power, punch or Punjabi flavour of the first part.

Unlike the prequel that gained momentum in the second half, you have already lost hopes from the sequel by the end of its first half. Bobby Deol doubles up as his (un-existing) twin brother in the second half and while this Bollywood formula has often worked from Gol Maal (1979) to Bol Bachchan (2012), it fails to click here thanks to the uninspiring direction. It would have sufficed even if the film would have focused on the double-role track and played on the off-repeated comedy of mistaken identities. Alas it strays into silly subplots where an idiotic astronomer (Anupam Kher as Dude Armstrong) wants to build universal malls in space.

The writing is extremely patchy. Often dialogues can be saving grace for badly-written screenplays but in this case it's so dreary that even they fail to amuse. The spoofs are so lame that they don't register at most occasions.

Also despite having the three Deols together, there is not a picture-perfect sense of togetherness in the film since Sunny is largely pitted against Bobby and Dharmendra. The sequel had them in unison (at least in the second half) thereby qualifying as a better 'family' entertainer.

The performances are nothing to rave about. Bobby Deol seems uninterested. Sunny Deol tries too hard but his character seems too half-baked. Rather Dharmendra seems to be having a ball of a time and thoroughly enjoys his crooked act.

Both the female leads, Neha Sharma and Kristina Akheeva have 'pretty' much nothing to do.Annu Kapoor hams badly in a pretentious English accent. Anupam Kher, Johnny Lever and Sucheta Khanna are wasted.

If the thought of watching Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol in the same frame is the reason why you are looking forward to this film, you are strongly recommended to watch the first part instead. Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 is not half as funny as its prequel!

Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani Box office Collection

Dharma Productions’ Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani justified the hype. Declared by most critics as a decadent entertainer, the film has brought back in Bollywood the glossy pomp and show of Karan Johar films and is on a record-shattering spree in India. This exactly works as the film’s USP. While morose realism was overtaking Bollywood, this film gets back a judicious doze of pompous color back. The film that claimed a wonderful opening earned 19.45 crores in its first day itself at the Domestic Box Office. With this, the film stands at 2013′s Biggest Opener, with Race 2 standing at No. 2 position with 15.10 Crores. It won’t be an overstatement to pronounce that the film is aiming to be the year’s biggest blockbuster. Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor’s fantastic chemistry is the quintessential crowd puller. The film is expected to cash in its inflated buzz and rake up a good earning in the weeks to come. Though Hangover 3 is mildly competing with it, the film isn’t anywhere close to YJHD’s booming business.
