Strategies and political propagandas are at play and amidst it Dhulia spins an interesting tale of relationships taking it forward from the prequel. The film starts with Inderjeet and Princess Ranjini (Soha Ali Khan) getting cozy in mustard farms and seeing a dream of getting married. Saheb on the other hand is looking for a new wife after his hysterical and drunk Biwi Madhavi’s (Mahie Gill) antics that were quite evident in the prequel. The prospect happens to be none other than Ranjini.

SBAGR, though is a sequel, watching ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster’ before it is not necessarily needed. It has a fresh new story, the only problem being that Dhulia assumes his audience to be very smart. A lot of situations and moments are left to assumptions and the viewer has to wreck his mind on why a certain thing is happening. The narrative can confuse you if you are not concentrating entirely on the film.

Irrfan Khan is stunning as the rustic and sharp gangster. There is no doubt that he is the perfect successor to Randeep Hooda’s powerful role in the prequel. He is even better. However, whenever Irrfan is on screen, it is the other co-actors who get overshadowed, but not this time. The film has Shergill’s name written all over it. Writing good dialogues is one thing and delivering them well is another. Shergill plays Saheb yet again with panache and confidence. Mahie Gill continues her streak while it is Soha who should be commended. Raj Babbar plays the poised king with elegance while others in the supporting cast do well.

Pravesh Rana of ‘Bigg Boss’ fame makes a debut that is impactful. There was not a moment when he seemed less, working with stalwarts.

There is too much going on in the film, but Dhulia manages to narrate an interesting tale that could have been confusing. And that’s what a good director is for. Cinematography and camera angles used are absolutely stunning.

Another USP of the film is its dialogues, written impeccably well by Dhulia. Sandeep Chowta’s music could have been better, though the Lata Mangeshkar classic ‘Lag Ja Gale’ is used pretty well. Item numbers by Anjana Sukhani and Mugdha Godse are decent but in no way match up to the standards set by the Munni and Sheila of the industry.

Dhulia portrays the lives of former Kings in an intriguing way wanting you to know more about them. And so he sure will soon be ready with another sequel to this one. Bring it on as we are definitely waiting for yet another Dhamaakedaar Gangster and Kings saga. Until then, do not forget to catch this one.
